About Stress Engineering Services
For over 50 years, Stress Engineering Services (SES) has been recognized globally as a highly specialized technical consulting firm trusted to solve the toughest challenges in industry. Our work spans energy, petrochemical, industrial, consumer, power generation, aerospace, and medical sectors—where failure is not an option and precision matters.
We combine scientific rigor with practical engineering judgment, delivering solutions that directly impact safety, reliability, and performance.
Overview
Stress Engineering Services, Inc. (SES) is a premier provider of innovation and product development services across a wide range of industries. The Industrial Design Group is foundational to SES and works hand-in-hand with our engineers to deliver powerful, real-world solutions by integrating strategy, design, and engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.
This is not a “design-for-design’s-sake” role—this is design that solves meaningful, high-impact problems.
Our Core Values
At SES, how we work matters just as much as what we deliver.
The Role
We are seeking an Industrial Designer with strong form generation skills, mechanical aptitude, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and clients in a fast-paced consulting environment where adaptability, curiosity, and ownership are essential.
You will help bring complex ideas to life—from early concept sketches through CAD modeling and prototyping—while contributing to projects that have real-world consequences and visibility.
Key Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
A Day in the Life at SES
In this role, no two days look the same—and that’s exactly what makes it exciting.
You might start the day collaborating with engineers to translate complex technical requirements into thoughtful, human-centered design concepts. As the day unfolds, you could shift into sketching ideation concepts for a proposal, refining CAD models for an active client project, or reviewing 3D-printed prototypes for an ergonomic study to validate form, usability, and user interaction.
In the afternoon, you may join a client meeting to present concepts, gather feedback, and quickly iterate designs based on real-world constraints. Some days are highly creative—focused on form exploration, design language, and visual storytelling—while others are deeply technical, working through manufacturability, assembly, materials, and mechanical integration alongside engineering subject matter experts.
You’ll balance independent work with cross-functional collaboration, moving fluidly between concept development, detailed design, prototyping, and refinement. Because SES operates in a consulting environment, you’ll often support multiple projects across different industries, sometimes within the same week—keeping the work dynamic, challenging, and constantly evolving.
Why Join SES
At SES, curiosity is encouraged and rewarded. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow as a designer while making a tangible impact on the future of products, systems, and industries that matter.
We offer competitive compensation based on market indicators and your experience, along with comprehensive benefits for eligible employees, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, paid holidays, and more.
Stress Engineering Services, Inc. (SES) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, pregnancy, disability, age, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
